Installing the add-in
PowerSlide runs inside PowerPoint, in a panel on the right side of the screen (an “add-in”). You don’t install a separate desktop program.
You’ll need:
- PowerPoint on your computer, or PowerPoint in the browser
- A PowerSlide account
Most people install from the Microsoft store. If your company has turned the store off, use the upload method below instead.
Option 1 — Install from the Microsoft store
- Open any presentation in PowerPoint.
- On the Home tab, click Add-ins. (On some versions: File → Get Add-ins.)
- If you only see a short list, click More Add-ins.
- Open the Store tab, search for PowerSlide, and click Add.
- When the PowerSlide panel opens on the right, sign in.
Microsoft’s own help pages:
If you don’t see a Store tab, your company likely blocks the Microsoft store. Use Option 2, or ask IT to install PowerSlide for everyone (how companies deploy add-ins).
Option 2 — Upload our install file
This is for when the store is blocked. You download a small file (called a manifest) that tells PowerPoint where to find PowerSlide, then upload that file once.
Download the install filePowerPoint in the browser
Steps from Microsoft’s guide:
- Open a presentation at powerpoint.office.com.
- Home → Add-ins → More Settings.
- Choose Upload My Add-in, select the file you downloaded, and upload.
- Sign in when the panel appears.
If you clear your browser data or switch browsers, you may need to upload the file again.
PowerPoint on Windows or Mac
- Home → Add-ins → More Add-ins (older versions: Insert → Get Add-ins).
- Open My Add-ins.
- Choose Upload My Add-in, select the file, and sign in.
If Upload My Add-in is missing, your company has blocked it — ask IT for help (see below).
Mac — if upload isn’t available
Follow Microsoft’s Mac steps:
- In Finder, press Cmd+Shift+G and go to:
/Users/<your-name>/Library/Containers/com.microsoft.Powerpoint/Data/Documents/wef
Create theweffolder if it doesn’t exist. - Copy the install file into that folder.
- Quit PowerPoint completely, reopen it, then Home → Add-ins → PowerSlide.
For IT — shared folder on Windows
If individual upload is blocked: install from a trusted network folder. For company-wide rollout, prefer the Microsoft store or Centralized Deployment.
Troubleshooting
- Add-in won’t load — often a company security setting. Ask IT.
- Empty panel — try downloading the install file again and re-uploading.
- Sign-in window never finishes — allow pop-ups from PowerPoint, then try again.
- It disappeared in the browser — you cleared site data; upload the file again.
Notes for IT / security
PowerSlide is a standard Microsoft Office add-in. There is no separate installer on the PC.
Your PowerPoint file stays on your device. We sync account details, chat history, skills, and basic info about attached files so you can continue across devices — not a full copy of every presentation. When PowerSlide runs, slide text is sent to our AI provider for that request under a zero-retention, no-training arrangement.
